Welcome to Johnsonburg Area Elementary School. Learning and fun go hand in hand in our preschool through sixth-grade classrooms. We are a community of caring, dedicated professionals who work together to bring about the academic and personal success of every student in our care.

At JAES, students, parents, and teachers are all on the same team. Weekly communication packets support that team spirit by sharing information about upcoming events and samples of your child’s schoolwork. Watch for your child’s packet on Tuesdays.

A Message From Our Principal

Dear Johnsonburg Area Elementary School Families,

Today, May 6, we are celebrating Nurses Day and Teacher Appreciation Day. I would like to express my personal thank you to our nurse and teachers at JAES. I appreciate everything that they do to educate and enrich the lives of our students.

Bus behavior is very important for the safety of all our students. Problems include inappropriate language, getting out of the seats and overall safety concerns. Students must also be cautious at the bus stops and stay off the roadways as they wait for their bus to arrive. Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

As we move into the final weeks of the 2024– 2025 school year, I would like to remind you of the upcoming school events and activities that are being planned.

  • May 13, 14 & 15: 6th grade Field Trip to Washington, DC
  • May 19:  6th Grade Step-up Day to the High School
  • May 20: Field Day – Wear Red, White & Blue
  • May 21: Field Day – Wear Blue & Gold
  • May 22: Senior Walk
  • May 23: School Closed – No School for Pre-K–6th Grade
  • May 26: Memorial Day – School Closed – No School for Pre-K – 6th grade
  • May 27: Academic Awards for 1st–6th Grade Students
  • May 28: Stand Tall Trip for 4th–6th Grade Students.
  • May 29: Kindergarten Graduation at 12:30 p.m. Doors will open at noon.
  • May 29: Teacher In-Service Day – No School for Pre-K–6th Grade
  • May 30: Last Day of School; Report Cards; Early Dismissal at 10:00 a.m.

These last few weeks are very busy and packed with events but please continue to encourage your child to finish strong and have a successful ending to this academic year.
