A Message from Our Superintendent
Welcome to the new school year, Johnsonburg family!
As Superintendent of the Johnsonburg Area School District, it is my absolute privilege to welcome our students, families, educators, staff, and community members to the start of another school year! There is a distinct, energized momentum in the air each fall, and I couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead.
This year, we are proud to support two familiar leaders in exciting new roles. Dr. Ray Kelly, our former high school principal, is stepping into the leadership role as Principal of Johnsonburg Elementary School. Joining him in our administrative team, Ms. Rachelle Kastner, our former high school counselor, is stepping up as Principal of Johnsonburg High School. Please join me in wishing Dr. Kelly and Ms. Kastner the absolute best as they guide our schools into this next chapter!
Johnsonburg is more than just a school district—it’s a tight-knit community built on a shared commitment to our youth. As we open our doors, our priority remains clear: delivering a dynamic, high-quality education while prioritizing academic excellence, mental health awareness, and strong community connections.
We are constantly looking for new ways to expand horizons and prepare our students for the future. To that end, we are continuing to grow our dual enrollment offerings to give students a head start on college credit. Additionally, we are thrilled to launch a new Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course this year in partnership with Bender Safety, offering hands-on, real-world career training right in our school.
Our students thrive when home, school, and community work in harmony. We invite you to be an active part of our school environment throughout the year by attending upcoming Open Houses, participating in informative Parent Workshops, and getting involved with our Elementary PTCO. Your voice, feedback, and presence are vital to making our district the best it can be.
The dedication of our teachers and support staff is what makes the Johnsonburg Area School District truly special. Together, as one community, we are ready to tackle challenges, celebrate achievements, and inspire every student to reach their full potential.
Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and enthusiasm. I cannot wait to hear the halls filled with laughter and learning once again. Let’s make this an extraordinary year!
Warm regards,
Dr. Karen Haberberger
