Academics

We live in a competitive global economy. To prepare our students to meet these demands, our curriculum adheres to state standards in all subjects, including the core areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. We also offer high-ability programming, a variety of business and technical education courses, fine art instruction, and foreign language courses.

Graduation Requirements

Johnsonburg Area School District graduates leave our schools ready for college and/or career success. To graduate, all students (except those with an IEP) must earn a minimum of 24 credits and meet the following requirements:

  • 4 credits of English
  • 4 credits of social studies
  • 3 credits of math
  • 3 credits of science
  • 1 credit of Career and Job Readiness
  • 39 hours of community service
  • 2 job shadowing options

Effective 2023, graduates must also demonstrate core subject proficiency as determined by the successful completion of end-of-course Keystone exams.

Advanced Placement & Dual Credit Opportunities

Earn college credit while still in high school with our Advanced Placement and dual credit course offerings! Courses are open to all juniors and seniors planning to attend college but may require additional instructional time outside the normal school day. All AP grades receive weighted credit.

Dual credit courses are offered through the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford extension. Some AP courses not offered on campus at JAHS are available online with administrator approval. Please speak to your guidance counselor for details.
