Johnsonburg Area Elementary School

Welcome to Johnsonburg Area Elementary School. Learning and fun go hand in hand in our preschool through sixth-grade classrooms. We are a community of caring, dedicated professionals who work together to bring about the academic and personal success of every student in our care.

At JAES, students, parents, and teachers are all on the same team. Weekly communication packets support that team spirit by sharing information about upcoming events and samples of your child’s schoolwork. Watch for your child’s packet on Tuesdays.

A Message From Our Principal

Dear Johnsonburg Elementary School Families,

Today, the students in grades three through six began taking the math PSSA tests. See the schedule of testing dates below. We want all our students to put forth their best effort! Please make every effort to have your child in school and on time these days.

  • Mathematics, grades three through six: April 30–May 1
  • PSSA Science, grade four only: May 2

We encourage all students to eat breakfast at school each morning before testing.

Your child’s progress report for the fourth quarter is enclosed in today’s packet. This report reflects how well your child is doing academically for the fourth quarter. Teachers have also included comments that are specifically for your child. I would ask that you go over this report with your child and return it to school by Thursday, May 2, 2024. Your comments are always welcome.

I would like to ask you to review the bus rules and regulations that are on page 35 of the student handbook/calendar. Bus behavior is very important for the safety of all of our students. Problems include inappropriate language and safety concerns. Students must also be cautious at the bus stops and stay off the roadways as they wait for their bus to arrive. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

It is extremely important for the school to be able to reach a parent/guardian with concerns or questions about our students. We ask parents to provide and update all contact information and to have a working phone number so we can reach you. This is an increasing problem and can be very upsetting when there is an emergency situation. Contact my office if you need to update any information.

Sincerely,

Judy Allegretto
