Johnsonburg Area Elementary School

Welcome to Johnsonburg Area Elementary School. Learning and fun go hand in hand in our preschool through sixth-grade classrooms. We are a community of caring, dedicated professionals who work together to bring about the academic and personal success of every student in our care.

At JAES, students, parents, and teachers are all on the same team. Weekly communication packets support that team spirit by sharing information about upcoming events and samples of your child’s schoolwork. Watch for your child’s packet on Tuesdays.

A Message From Our Principal

Dear Johnsonburg Elementary School Families,

All student absences will be recorded as illegal absences until a written excuse is received. This written excuse is important. Not sending an absentee form within five days of your child’s return to school will result in an illegal absence. We still need a written excuse even if a phone call was made to the office about the absence. Please review the attendance rules that are found on page 21 of the school’s handbook.

It has also been brought to my attention that there are concerns about bus and bus stop behavior. I reminded students about keeping their hands and feet to themselves on the bus. It is also a safety concern when the students are at the bus stop to be careful and cautious when near the road or crossing the streets. I would appreciate you talking to your child about safety and proper behavior that is expected.

Also, remind your children that they should not be bringing their own electronic games, cell phones or toys to school. These items are becoming a distraction to our educational setting. I would appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

We are starting to schedule times for parent conferences. Parent conferences will be on Thursday, October 30 (after school) and on Friday, October 31 (morning). If you need a specific time due to a work schedule or other commitment, please contact my office so that a time can be scheduled to accommodate your schedule. These requests need to be made as soon as possible so that we can do our master conference schedule.

Sincerely,

Judy Allegretto
